About the fitness industry in India

According to an article by Indian Retailer, at the end of FY2018, revenues in the Indian fitness market amounted to USD 908million. Further growth in the segment, expected at a CAGR of 9.3% between 2018 and 2022, is expected to take the total market value to a whopping USD 1,296 million in 2022.Revenue is expected to show an annual growth rate (CAGR 2018-2022) of 9.3 % resulting in a market volume of US$1,296m in 2022. However, a fact worth noting is that a major portion of these revenues will be driven by the consumption of fitness wearables.

Simultaneously, the number of upscale fitness centres is growing at a similar pace to the rapid rise in disposable income among consumers between the ages of 20 to 45 years of age. The Indian fitness industry is also bringing about a much-needed revolution in a country that is affected by the increasing number of cases of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. This is also one of the key reasons behind the sudden surge in the number of weight loss products available in the market, as well as the spike in health club and gym memberships. Spending money on gym memberships, which was earlier perceived as a luxury, is now becoming a way of life for several people. Furthermore, there is an increasing number of people in tier 2 and tier 3 cities looking for wellness and fitness solutions, with most men opting for muscle-building training and women for cardio-vascular and strength training.

Spice Terrace

Spice Terrace is premium microbrewery in town with awesome pool side seating to enjoy Bangalore weather.

The Newly crafted menu at Spice Terrace is brainchild of Chef Ishant Khanna, who specializes in the regional and local cuisines from the Northern India. 



The new additions in the menu come with delectable selection of fine Indian dishes from the northern region of the country. 
Some of the offerings on the menu are Palak Makai Ki Raab, Rajmah Aur Dhingri Ki Galawat, Bhatti Da Kukkad, Papad Paneer Masala, Dum Ki Machali, Martaban Gosht, Badam Gulab Kheer among other signature dishes.

It looked just amazing, surrounded by trees and birds chirping.

Nature at its Best

The resort is built in an ethnic style inspired by local design, in the jungle theme that has evolved the best balance in Gir’s hot summer and chilly winters.
They have made sure that the resort is built around nature without disturbing nature and containing the maximum trees within the resort.


Within the resort you can locate different species of trees and birds, also if you are lucky you might locate wildlife within the resort. Really I am serious!!
Thats the fun of living in a jungle, enjoy nature and if you like take a dip in the amazing pool.

On request resort team can arrange Bird watching session on the Hiran river which passes right from the back section of the resort. We went there with Kalu bhai, he was one amazing person and knew all the names of the birds, their species and habits by heart, he was an encyclopedia in himself for birds.


Visit to Gir National Park

When visiting Gir please make sure to book the safari well in advance, cause usually they have limited seats and are booked, getting something Ad-hock might be difficult.
Lucky that while booking hotel staff was helpful to inform to book safari in advance.

We were so excited to see King of Jungle in his natural habitat, in morning waking me and Shalini up is a task, but that day thankfully we responded to different alarms and were ready early for safari.


When Safari started our guide showed us the claw marks of Lion, and mentioned "Sir Lion went from here in morning" and I am very scared of this sentence. In my past safari experiences whenever I hear this I never locate animal :)
Same happened 2 times in Jim Corbett and 1 time in Ranthambore, when went for Tiger safari.
I laughed and said to our Guide "Bhaiya show us Lion, I have seen these foot marks a lot"
Our guide recommended that we will spend more time locating lions and will skip other animals then. He was talking with all the other guides and Trackers passing about the lions and finally we got information about Lioness and cub relaxing and quickly we went to location.


To my surprise there are trackers who make sure that wildlife is not hampered by poachers and travelers and they travel around the forest making sure to keep track of wildlife specially these Royal animals who are very important to nature.

Lioness and cub looked so cute, cub was specially trying to be around mom and comfort himself /playing with mom's tail :)
We were mesmerized with the whole experience, where the power is back with nature and there is no barrier in between.

We left them alone after some time, so that they can have their privacy, in the route we located Spotted deers, owls, peacock, and Sambar deer.



We were lucky that our guide located a lion who hunted a spotted dear and was enjoying his hunt. The sound of flesh ripping and bones cracking is still fresh in our ears, it gave us goose-bump.

Overall we had a Great experience
At Gir you have limited options on things to do, though resort arranges a lot of activities in house which will keep you engaged.

Must Do when in Gir:
- Visit Gir National Park
- If you are not able to book Safari in time visit Short Safari at Devaliya 
(not as good as main safari, but still you get to see nature and animals in a good habitat)
- Go for bird watching
- Walk around Hiran river, its fascinating. 
- Make sure to visit Somnath Jyotirlinga
- Spend lot of time in nature and relax, you dont need to run around during your time here, 
enjoy wildlife and trees.

There is this big family get-together coming up and I was thinking what to buy for myself,
my preferences are very simple,
I want something which is comfortable, yet classy and brings out fashion quotient in me.


While browsing some collections and options in Bangalore, I came across P N RAO Stores.

I always had this perception that P N Rao is somewhere you go when you are planning your wedding, and looking for something exclusive for your wedding.
I thought of giving it a try since I saw some amazing Blazers lined up in the showroom and you know when boys are lost on what to buy for occasion, we can find comfort in a Black or a Blue classic blazer.
Entering the showroom I saw some great options and the helper from the store mentioned that
P N RAO has introduced a new line of clothing keeping in mind latest fashion trends and marrying it with P N RAO’s in-house expertise to ensure the best of fashion is made available to the fashionable men of today.


They showed me pieces right from the single-breasted jodhpuris to single-breasted lapel tuxedos in asymmetry which are some of the stand out fashion statements for this season. To take it a notch higher, the fashion forward colour mix shades of English violet, grey, twisted brown are also available to give it a royal and contemporary touch.


After checking the floor with Ready to wear clothing, we went to next floor of bespoke clothing where you can customize and get all the options stitched to your own style and comfort, whether it’s a 3 piece suit or a pair of contemporary shirt and trouser or a business casual ensemble. To make it more enticing, the clothes boasts of unique texture, fabrics and innovative designs and cuts making it apt and accessible to people of all age groups.


After trying a lot of options I decided to go for 3 Piece Suit:

Fabric Selection

The process started with decision on fabric, I would have check close to 25 different fabric, the staff helping with the decision of fabric. The look and feel of fabrics were very different from each other, I finalized on classic gray with block checks which bring in semi-formal quotient to the overall look.


Design

Next was to decide on design of suit, P N Rao have some great collection of catalogue, for you to decide your look, I also had some inspiration and thoughts in mind, so I had a conversation with Stylist and master tailor and expressed some  style thoughts on how I need my 3 Piece suit, we were able to come up with partial look from the catalogue and partially they were able to sketch it and understood the fitting I require.

Measurements

Next I gave the measurements, Stylist suggested the best options and I shared my preferences.

Fittings

After a week they called me for Fittings, they did the suit partially and fittings make sure that before final stitching and fitting you get approximate idea on how suit will look once completed. I suggested few fitting changes and some were recommended by Stylist which were very small changes yet very helpful.


In about next 4 days I was called for final check and to take home my own customized piece of art. The fittings were perfect and I cant believe something customized can be done at the pricing comparable to any other ready to wear brand, comfort and fall is much better than ready to wear options.



I think after the experience my perception for P N Rao has changed and  P N RAO stores can act as a one stop destination for all your attire and accessories need.

Travel Gujarat with Fern Sattva Hotel & Resort

Our Next adventure was Gujarat’s coastal route to Dwarka:
Gir - > Somnath - > Porbandar - > Dwarka

About 70km from Gir National park, we have Somnath Jyotirling Temple. Located at Western Ghat of Gujarat, is believed to be the first of the 12 Jyotirling of Lord Shiva. Somnath is reconstructed several times in past after repeated distruction from several invaders and rulers. Construction of present temple was completed in  May 1951.

The Temple is divine and just with the look at the Shivling you feel so good and pure. One our way out we most beautiful sight of Arabian sea.

After some food, we started our road trip to Dwarka. and our next destination en-route was Porbandar. The road till Porbandar is good and at places we were driving next to coast enjoying view of lovely Arabian sea.

Porbandar is a small town with old Gujarat vibes. Here we visited Kirti Mandir, which is the ancestral house of Gandhi Family, where Mahatma Gandhi was born. Its located in a small lane, with a lot of old houses located in lane.


You must try some local peanuts here, they are amazing.

Porbandar has an old world charm to it, you can find many old houses and doors near Kirti Mandir

Road from Porbandar to Dwarka, is being build into a bigger 6 lane highways, hence you have to compromise on some road quality for now. I will also suggest to have some snacks in Porbandar, since with road construction it will be difficult to spot any hotel near highway.

Right at the first look of the hotel, we were like wow. The Hotel is build on the concept of palace, with amazing interiors. We were mesmerized by the essence of hotels unhurried luxury. 


Our Suite featured a living room and private balcony on one level, and an opulent bedroom on the next, looking out into the Arabian Sea. We woke up to the wafts of breeze blowing in from the Arabian Sea. We enjoyed our tea in the Balcony and then headed to the Flute Café for breakfast.

The day was roller coaster ride from spiritual to luxury.

We started our day with early darshan at Dwarkadhish temple, we you have to meet the almighty lord Krishna when you are in Dwarka, the temple itself is so mesmerizing you just get so attached to it, idol of Krishna, oh I cannot even explain about it, I was just lost in the beauty of the idol, and overall experience walking through the temple with priest explaining us the importance of each and every place, and telling us Why Rukmani Devi temple is not there in Dwarkadhish temple. Interesting story !!

Next we went to Rukmani Devi temple, followed by Nageshwar Jyotirling Temple. Then we were in mood of some beach and went to nearby beach to just relax and take a deep breadth in the purity of this place. Its just amazing.

We came back to luxury at hotel and took a cool dip in the amazing pool which was so inviting.
Fern hotel serves one of the best vegetarian food available in and around Dwarka, do give try them when you are there you will absolutely love it.




Overall a great experience with Fern Hotel, here are a few things to do:

1.    Go to Dwarkadish temple and other temples early, footfall increases as day progresses.
2.    Have some extra days to plan for scuba diving, its beautiful here.. we missed it this time.
3.    Do visit Bet Dwarka, island towards north of Dwarka.
4.    Keep beach shorts handy for spending some time at beach

Vintage Motorcyle Show by FHVI at UB City

Federation of Historic Vehicles of India (FHVI) celebrated an exclusive motorcycle show, for the very first time in India. FIVA, International Motorcycle Week was celebrated from 01 - 09 June 2019, in 63 member countries across the Globe. This is the first time that India is taking part.

The Federation of Historic Vehicles of India (FHVI) hosted a 2-day event at UB City, where they were displaying 200 Motorcycles from across the country.
The bikes from the early 1900’s to the late 1980’s are on display.


The event was inaugurated by celebrated  
Kannada actor, Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar along with
Dr. Ravi Prakash – President, FHVI
Ms. Uzma Irfan – Director, Prestige Group

FIVA globally honored every participant with a special historic Motorcycle pin, created just for this event through FHVI in Bangalore show. FHVI the only Federation associated with the International Organization - The Federation Internationale des Vehiclules Anciens (FIVA), official partner of UNESCO


The Motorcycles ranging from the early 1900s to the late 1980s, include Royal Enfields, Jawa’s, Yezdi’s, Harley Davidson, Indian’s, Nortons, Triumph’s, BMW’s, BSA’s, Matchless’s, AJS’s, Lambretta also very rare bikes like Velocette, Cossack, Douglas, CZ, JAP, Cezeta, Micoletta, Norman, NSU etc. In addition, the very first cycles - 1860 Bone shakers and 1870 Penny Farthing
cycles are on display.



About the Federation of Historic Vehicles of India (FHVI) 

The Federation of Historic Vehicles of India (FHVI) was registered under Societies Act during 2017. They not only represent nearly 80% of the Historic Vehicle Owners in India but are also the only Federation associated with the International Organization - The Federation Internationale des Vehiclules Anciens (FIVA), official partner of UNESCO. FIVA, founded in 1966 is the worldwide organization dedicated to the preservation, protection and promotion of historic vehicles and related culture.

FHVI is an all-India Organization of Vintage and Classic Cars, Bikes and Utilitarian Vehicles.
At present, they have nearly 2,000 members and about 10,000 vehicles. The owners showcase their vehicles on special occasions including social events, shows, parades, rallies etc.

Our Last visit to Sriracha we tried Khmer BBQ, which was an extraordinary experience.

Khmer BBQ is Traditional Cambodian Way To Barbeque Meats And Vegetables. The Round Metal Grill Is Placed On A Live Charcoal “Phnom plung” and outside is filled with soup 🍲

 
Grills are done on Dome in the center of Khmer BBQ.
Stock is filled outside the Grilling Dome, along with vegetables and noodles.
Served along Jasmine Rice.
