Hi Everyone,

"A women's perfume tells more about her ....
                                                             .....then her handwriting !! "

Sounds so relevant to me, since I judge a woman by her fragrance. Perfumes always makes me happy, even when I don’t love the aura — it’s pretty rare that one has bored me !!

My calling lies in woody n a bit strong fragrance, which is not too fruity or floral. Hence, I am a bit choosy about what settles on my body and how I feel comfortable with myself.

So, when Avon Little Gold Dress EDP  came knocking my door, I so wished it should be a parfum worth scoring a place into my closet.

First description was quite impressive as ...

Glamorous, radiant, always stylish - shine at every special occasion  in a dazzle of sparkling fruits, timeless florals and rich golden amber.

The perfume is described as a fruity floral oriental spray that opens with a bright burst of citrus from Clementine and luscious notes of Peach juice and purple plum. Irrespective of the ingredients and the description, I found the perfume to be of liking since its not too fruity.

The first whiff .... the smell was strong and sensual. Finally it settled down and I liked how well balanced and elegant it was !!The perfume can be worn during day or evening and lasts for good 3-4 hours.

On the lighter note, the packaging and the perfume bottle was not upto the luxurious standard which 'Little Gold Dress' as the name portrays (and perfume bottles speak a million words about the juice inside) Wish Avon had jazzed up the bottle slightly !!

The Little Gold Dress is available from October onwards through Avon representatives and priced at Rs 1199.

After much speculation and hesitation, finally I gathered the courage to sport the hottest trend this season - Crop Tops !! I was amazed with the confidence with which I was able to carry this trend and was happy with the final pictures. Its getting colder by the day and days are going gloomy and dull. Though I welcome and enjoy every season with same enthusiasm and aplomb, however, I don't like my days gloomy. Nothing jazz up this weather then bright beautiful colors specially cozy printed sweaters, bright cardigans and sweatshirts. Since, I have so many of them in my closet, I wanted to add something new and was lusting over bright leather jackets in varied colors. So, when I stumbled upon this jacket, I was so happy to find its available in 4 different colors and that too in my size !!

I didn't had any reason to let it go...hence it landed up in my closet to add that brightness to my winter wardrobe. Entire look is woven around the jacket and its enjoying the focus overall. Houndstooth scarf was my twist to quirk up the look a bit and I really liked how well it complimented the hot pink jacket.

Nothing is joy like a warm sunny day ... specially when you have a tropical theme party planned with your girls !! Theme parties are always tricky since you have to adhere to the theme without compromising on your style quotient as well as comfort. Hence, I always pick up a central comfy piece which perfectly goes with the party theme and build my entire ensemble around it ... Isn't that super easy and fun !!

For this party, I started with tropical print shorts which are stretchable and light as feather. Picked up a color from the shorts and matched my blouse perfectly. To give the edge and SBN twist to this plain Jane outfit, I threw over this ripped denim vest and the entire mood of the outfit changed. I really liked it that way and was happy to enjoy my entire evening with comfort and elan.

RAGHAVENDRA RATHORE CREATED A ROYAL INDIAN BRIDAL IMPACT WITH HIS OPULENT COLLECTION AT THE AAMBY VALLEY INDIA BRIDAL FASHION WEEK 2013

Mumbai, 1st December’2013: Recreating the glorious days of the Raj and the beauty of the 1920’s, Raghavendra Rathore’s Royal Indian bridal collection made an opulent impact at the Aamby Valley India Bridal Fashion Week 2013.

Finely crafted from luxurious silks, brocades, chiffons and velvets in regal hues like fuchsia, midnight blue, wine, saffron, gold and silver; the collection gave a western look to the modern Indian silhouettes. Surface embellishments were treated with great reverence to give an antique vintage feel to the garments. The overall silhouettes for both men’s and women’s wear were lean and figure hugging with only a casual hint of volume for the skirts.

For women’s wear, it was flamboyant white silk voluminous tucked skirt teamed with elegant black jacket. A slender red satin tube had selective gold embroidery. An asymmetric layered poncho maxi, a white oriental embroidered kaftan, black long jacket with lapels matched with fuchsia slim pants, navy velvet fitted jacket worn with two-tone Jodhpuri pants and gold brocade Raja coat were regal creations.

A red silk sari with gold gotta border was matched with a black silk embroidered jacket and bringing in some Red Carpet dazzle, Raghavendra had a velvet long fish tail skirt with blue embellished blouse under a cute bolero and a purple gown with generously embroidered bodice with a daring low back.

For women too there were striking sherwanis in a shorter version with zari work and combined with slim pants. Women’s wear drew its influence from traditional shapes across Asia and presented a refined style of dressing with a hint of decadent touches.

For men’s wear the popular Bandgala jacket, which Raghavendra is renowned for, was redefined into a contemporary form and offered in a variety of looks. To create a stately image of the Maharajas of yesteryear, suiting fabrics came together in perfect unison with chiffon, silk and velvet for superbly tailored garments.

Giving men’s wear his creative touches Raghavendra had a fuchsia kurta with a purple waist coat; bundies had tiny embroidery or were splashed lavishly with gold placement work. A bright red silk Bandgala, a vibrant pink Nehru jacket/kurta combo and shimmering velvet Bandgala offered variety.

Embroidered waistcoats with Jodhpuri pants, strategically embroidered shirts and jackets, practical kurtas with embellished bundies and Bandgala jackets in vibrant shades of electric blue and royal purple silk completed the collection. Collarless jackets with gold trims, sherwanis richly embellished with intricate embroidery and the three piece Bandgala/kurta/sherwani trio in black brocade was a stately offering.

For that show stopping entry it was the lovely Bollywood star, Dia Mirza in a red taffeta tucked bias cut long skirt and black heavily embroidered jacket that was a fitting finale.

The front row of the show was glittering with celebrities like Kabir Bedi, Jackie Shroff, Dino Morea and Shaina NC, who were seen cheering for the designer.

For that look of the Raj and the glory of the past, Raghavendra Rathore’s collection of bridal wear offered the ultimate in regal ensembles for both sexes.

MEERA  MUZAFFAR ALI BROUGHT THE GLORY OF THE ORIENT ON THE RAMP AT THE AAMBY VALLEY INDIA BRIDAL FASHION WEEK 2013

Mumbai, December 2nd, 2013: Kotwara by Meera Muzaffar Ali presented their “Pearl of the Orient” bridal collection at the fifth Aamby Valley India Bridal Fashion Week 2013. Evoking the grandeur of Awadh, the exotic bridal wear was textured with pearls, sequins, resham and zari for the regal ensembles as they glided down the runway.

 The show opened with a beautiful, graceful, kathak dancer who set the mood between the sections and created the Awadhi atmosphere for the show.

Shades of purple georgette, chiffon and net for saris which were worn with white chikankari capes were stately in style and design. Angarkhas were panelled, while shararas with tissue stripes created an innovative touch. A tiny silver shrug over a traditional kurta was a trendy addition, while boleros with intricate work appeared over tunics. Shades of wine and shocking pink georgette with gold tissue gave a bridal look to the lehengas in the show.

There was a glorious mix of traditional Indian wear as lehengas, shararas, saris and floor length kurtas created magic for the audience as they viewed the elegant women’s wear. The fabrics were a melangé of colour and textures as sheer chiffon blended effortlessly with lush velvets and brocades that were luxuriously worked with glittering zardosi and intricate chikankari, which is their specialty to create amazing textures.

The colour story moved from pristine whites to soft pastels and then vibrant tones of rich colours.

Ankle length cropped pyjamas, slim kurtas and embellished dupattas set the mood of the show. Colour came for Anarkalis over lehengas and flaming red saris worn with regal sherwanis and splashed with pearls.

Black and gold took over the latter part of the collection, with lavish paisleys and bootis embellished on lehengas, blouses and dupattas. The saris with rich sequins and resham work revealed the master craftsmanship of the designers’ studio.

The show ended with the white section lavishly treated with the gold and silver embellishments. From flared kurtas, layers of white chiffon for regal shararas, sexy corsets and stunning lehengas, embellished with heart stopping silver chikankari; Meera Muzaffar Ali proved they are the masters at bringing the beauty of an ancient craft with modern ethnic sensibilities.

Shekhar Suman, son Adhyayan Suman and family were seen on the front row enjoying the show.

For a magical bridal wear offering Meera Muzaffar Ali wove a glamorous fashion tale with their “Pearl of the Orient” collection.

MANIDRA WIRK RECREATED THE BEAUTY OF JAIPUR THROUGH HER GLAMOROUS COLLECTION AT THE AAMBY VALLEY INDIA BRIDAL FASHION WEEK 2013

Mumbai, 3rd December, 2013: Inspired by the forts, palaces, architectural marvels and tales of romance and valour from the Pink City of Jaipur, Mandira Wirk’s glamorous bridal collection for the fifth Aamby Valley India Bridal Fashion Week 2013 was a breath taking presentation.

The show opened with a line-up of models gliding down, carrying lit lanterns that created the elegant atmosphere for the collection.

Opening the show was the gorgeous Miss Universe Canada 2012, Sahar Biniaz who emerged from the wings, looking every inch a beauty queen in a stunning gold lehenga with an embroidered jacket that revealed the creative touches of Mandira. The black entries were fusion offerings with tulip satin skirt, black dhoti pants, pre-draped sari and slim pants all teamed with a variety of long and short jackets resplendent with multicoloured peacock and flamingo embroidery.

The sexy line of leggings and churidars in nude, blue or red flirted sensuously under gold mini with net trial, drop waist top or a layered sheer lehenga and jacket. Will-power kurtas encrusted with the colours of the peacock were worn with lamé shararas.


Using a wealth of crafts from the beautiful city, Mandira bought in the colourful Meenakari and merged it with resham, zari, jewel work as well as gotta and mirror work to present a glorious fashionable tale of glitz and grandeur.

To match the beauty of the embellishments the colour story was a profusion of fuchsia, emerald and blue along with dusty gold to recreate the glory of the regal era.

Sensational, swirling floor skimming, Anarkalis teamed with jackets, luxuriously draped saris and magnificent lehengas were part of the vibrant bridal collection.


The two sheathes over churidars with parrot embroidery and the purple, panelled, flared, stunning, gown with glittering bodice made a great Indo-west option.

Shararas/halter kurtis, lehengas/off-shoulder blouses, asymmetric Anarkalis with gold resham jackets floated on the ramp in shades of maroon, wine and fuchsia.

To end the show on a high bridal note, Mandira had showstopper Sophie Chaudhary who arrived in a palkhi, wearing a dazzling crystal and gold corset, lehenga and dupatta.

Inspired by the beauty of the Pink City Mandira Wirk’s collection  added the right touches to the wedding festivities.

Mumbai, 3rd December, 2013: If a bridal collection is called “The Maharaja of Madrid” then the apparent Spanish influences will create an amazing impact on the ramp. J J Valaya unleashed unlimited glamour for the audience at the fifth Aamby Valley India Bridal Fashion Week 2013, with a collection that was not only spell binding but replete with the most exquisite crafts, constructions and detailing

 
The giant Spanish galleon against the backdrop of the raging ocean mural on the stage from where the models emerged was designed keeping every detail of the ship in mind. 14 white giant silk umbrellas dotted the venue, placed amongst the audience, who experienced a sensational fashionable sea journey of grandeur and opulence woven by Valaya in his characteristic style.

To emphasise the theme further, group of Indian kathak dancers on the ramp and a fiery Spanish flamenco performer on the top deck of the ship opened the show with a frenzied jugalbandi to Indian and Spanish melodies.

Divided into five sub inspirations, the garments were an astonishing amalgamation of Spanish and Indian elements that came together seamlessly.

The blue/red, rose embroidery, rust, red/printed and the final lehengas and jackets revealed a sensational mix of panelled lehengas, peplum blouses, long luxurious gowns, sensational saris, which were so elaborately embroidered that  they mesmerised the audience and held them spell bound with wonder.

 OPENING DAY FOUR PREETI S KAPOOR’S “ROYAL INDIA” BRIDAL COLLECTION WAS A STUNNING OFFERING AT THE AAMBY VALLEY INDIA BRIDAL FASHION WEEK 2013

Mumbai, 3rd December, 2013: Inspired by the fabulous Indian costumes from the Hills of Kashmir to the sands of Kutch and from the glory of Awadh to the historic drama of Hyderabad, Preeti S Kapoor’s “Royal India” bridal collection was a stunning offering at the fifth Aamby Valley India Bridal Fashion Week 2013.

With intricate embroidery, majestic silhouettes and shapes, the collection was a fabulous blend of diverse colours, textures and fabrics that were very versatile and eye catching.

Twelve lit clusters of lamps lined the ramp to create the magical effect of the past for the show, which was a breathtaking array of the most exquisite embroidery and craftsmanship.

From the first off-white collection of kalidaar kurtas with gotta work, saris in flesh tones with intricate weaves and brocade pallavs, to the crinkle white silk lehenga with the mini choli; the collection promised to be a bride’s eternal dream.

Preeti not only scored with her generously embellished bridal wear but the amazing cholis were mind boggling in their cut and construction.

Adding on black as a very formal colour, the black silk sari with the eye catching booties, the zig zag work for the empire line kurta worn with embroidered palazzos and the royal purple lehenga with front tie-up net cover were perfect additions to the show.

The final lin-up of heavily encrusted ensembles with triple colour tones of purple/fuchsia/orange and saffron/green/shocking pink proved that Preeti’s unconventional shade combinations could turn into stunning offerings. While most silhouettes were voluminous, the long lean kurta made a surprising entry amongst the panelled flared versions.

Embellishments covered the garments, though at times the embroidery was reserved for the ornate hemlines, while the plunging low neck necklines were accentuated seductively.

The front row celebs included Vidya Malvade, Rohit Roy, Shibani Kashyap, Alvira & Arpita Khan, Tushar Kapoor.

Making a dramatic show stopping entry under a canopy of flowers was the petite, pretty, Bollywood star, Aditi Rao Hydari in a red heavily embellished gold lehenga, choli and orange dupatta.

When brides want to make a regal memorable entry on their wedding day the “Royal India” Collection by Preeti S Kapoor will make a perfect impact.

ROHIT BAL’S ULTIMATE GRAND FINALE - “MULMUL” COLLECTION WAS THE STUNNING END TO THE AAMBY VALLEY INDIA BRIDAL FASHION WEEK 2013

“Mulmul” the ultimate Grand Finale collection by Rohit Bal was a sensational end to the fifth Aamby valley India Bridal Fashion Week 2013. Taking the audience on a nostalgic journey through centuries of Indian and Elizabethan eras, Rohit’s ode to elegance and opulence was a lyrical fashion story.

Giant lit lotus - Rohit Bal’s favourite hung from the ceiling while gold motifs of the same flower covered the ramp and a water body with fresh lotus in the centre of the catwalk completed the setting. Long stems entwined around the venue, were lit with fairy lights and created an ambience of a magical land where the Master of Haute Couture, Rohit Bal unveiled one of the most magnificent collections seen on the ramp.

Starting with sheer muslins and moving to rich velvets, the collection displayed timeless crafts and surface ornamentation. Recreating the Golden Age of India with vintage kasab, Kashmiri work on muslin, Shibori for Chanderi and voiles; the creations had a magical appeal that can only come from the Rohit Bal Studio.

Jewel tones for maroon velvet and ivory for muslin was turned into corsets and bridal costumes that were ideal for the pretty coquette who will walk down the aisle.

Victorian collars, shades of Knights and Maharajas were seen as detailing for the garments. The all-white floor skimming angarkhas with contrast bodices, royal velvet maxis with Elizabethan collars, maroon lehengas and corsets or sexy hipster long bridal skirts worn with miniscule cholis were part of a memorable collection while moulded velvet corsets added a regal fashionable dimension to saris.
Men’s wear vied with women’s wear for attention as long sherwanis were encrusted with amazing crafts and at times worn over multi layered ankle length voluminous kurtas, wide cowled dhotis, swirling kedia inspired mini kurtas with lavish embroidery.

Playing with a colour base of black, white and then adding  grey for the opening collections with softly quilted floor length coats, empire line gowns, ornate boleros and the famous multi tiered flared kurtas, the show moved to the maroon/white velvet line when lehengas were stunning and long majestic coats, shawls and gowns competed for the audience’s attention. The Shibori touches were the highlights of the collections giving an intriguing look.

Ink blue velvet with giant multi coloured peacocks prancing on the skirt and sherwanis with colourful paisleys and floral embellishments gave the show the dazzle and glitter.

The white and gold ensembles were pure drama with the ethnic creations in Mulmul and dull gold turning into breathtaking visions of beauty, which were so unbelievable, since Mulmul never looked more haute than it did at this scintillating show.

Detailing was of such a high standard that there are not many who can match Rohit Bal’s creativity when it comes to ensuring that pleated collars stood regally around the necks of the models and the impeccable embroidery, pleating, crinkling and minute touches were perfectly executed.

A Rohit Bal finale has to match the genius of the designer. 22 turbaned male models in identical floor length Mulmul angarkhas lined the ramp to create a majestic entrance for the two wine coloured glittering bridal wear clad models who glided down the ramp.

Rohit Bal’s show had a glittering attendance with the likes of Abhishek Bachchan in the front row. The actor graciously came up on the ramp to greet the designer.

For the ultimate in bridal wear Rohit Bal’s “Mulmul” collection was the perfect end to the fifth edition of the very scintillating Aamby Valley India Bridal Fashion Week 2013 and will be just what the bridal couple will want to wear on the most important day in their lives.
